Privacy policy

Your text stays in the system lookup workflow.

Effective August 13, 2026. This policy describes the GlossPeek Mac App Store edition and this website.

1. No GlossPeek cloud text processing

GlossPeek operates no translation server, account system, or remote text API. Selected text is not sent to a GlossPeek or third-party business server.

2. Dictionary Services and Apple Translation

  • Definitions are queried through macOS Dictionary Services.
  • Translations use the Apple Translation framework; macOS may check or download language packs when required.
  • Language availability depends on Apple frameworks and the resources present on your device.

3. Shortcut and temporary clipboard transaction

Only after you press the app shortcut, the App Store edition sends one Command+C to the frontmost app. GlossPeek temporarily snapshots materializable clipboard data, reads text created by that Copy, and attempts restoration only if nothing else changed the clipboard. Cross-process pasteboards have no atomic compare-and-swap, so restoration is a race-protected best effort, not an absolute guarantee.

4. Local saves

Lookups are not automatically added to history. Source text, translated text, language identifiers, and an optional dictionary definition are written to local JSON only after you explicitly save to Wordbook or History. Settings lets you delete entries or clear both collections.

5. Permissions and events

GlossPeek registers only the exact global shortcut you configure. While an unpinned card is visible, a short-lived mouse-down observer supports outside-click dismissal; it does not read keyboard content or retain pointer trails. The App Store edition does not compile Accessibility selection reading or a selection hint icon.

6. Website

This website is static and uses no cookies, LocalStorage, third-party analytics SDK, advertising tracker, or form. After release, the Store button may use an Apple Campaign Link so Apple can report product-page views, downloads, and sales attribution; this website never receives lookup text.

7. Retention and contact

You control local records. Clear Wordbook and History in Settings before uninstalling if you no longer want them. Privacy or support contact: The public support email will be published with the App Store release.

The only public edition is distributed through the Mac App Store. This website provides no installer, checkout, or license.
